I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but one hard lesson I have learned is if you want a better life, with all the love, happiness, money, and experiences you can think off; you must take it. Now pay attention, I did not say, “if you want a better life, go buy it.” or ”if you want a better life, try and win the lotto”. I said “take it“, meaning action. Once upon a time, not to long ago, I was down and out, living a quite life of desperation like many others. I had a job that I was not passionate about (only 35 yrs till retirement! ThenI can enjoy life yaaaay) was dating someone who left me wanting more ( deeper connection). On the outside, everything looked good. Had a job, had a girl, was taking care of myself, but inside I was unhappy. I always thought man if I could go back in time I would do that, OR I wish things would work out a little better like this, or I wish I had that job, or I want to spend a month here… etc etc. But I can’t, I don’t have the money, I don’t have the time, she won’t let me, I don’t want to end my relationship but I want to date someone else, my job is kinda in the way….all these I thought at one time or another and all of them are just excuses.
Would I be Better off being Young and Free?
Thinking like this is the first step to recovery, admit that parts of your life sucks and start changing your mindset from their! To find love and be happiness in life required honesty and the action to take the life you want for yourself. Once you stop giving your power away to other things you realize that you have the power and your giving it away. Stop doing that. For me, it just dawned on me one day, wishing and hoping and dreaming about how I would like things to be, I just realized that I have nothing to really complain about. I’m young, debt free, good looking and educated. The fact that I have a job that take 70 hrs a week is because of my decisions, the fact that I’m dating someone I’m not sure about is my fault. I can do what ever the hell I want if I put my mind to it, or power in this case.
You want more money? You probably want more Freedom
What would it be like to a billionaire like Donald Trump or Oprha? I say who cares. Money is important and its part of the equation, the real measures of wealth are freedom and mobility. What If you could make 50,000$ a year, but only work 22 hours a week? Most any 20 yr old in the US would take that gig ANY day over a 100,000$ a year at 60+ hrs a week. Why? Finding love and happiness is a function of money, mobility, and freedom, and having a nice balance between the three. Making enough to do what you want, but also being able to do it of course. The quality of life is found in relationships with other people, and living it up by doing new things and going new places. Not on the amount of toys you accumulate. Its easy to get stuck on the material measuring stick. Your value is not on what you think, do or believe in, but rather it is how much you make where you live and who your going to bed with.
Find Love
If your dating someone your not sure about, read this to know when to breakup. If your not dating anyone, the first thing you need to take care of is yourself. Find something your passionate about and believe in. Do things that satisfy you. It does not necessarily have to always be at work, but that is always great if it works out that way! Before you take on anyone else, you yourself need to be happy with yourself and your life. If your not, then your not ready to take on someone else. Also, you need more time to experience and do things. If your like I was, 70 hours+ you have no free time. When your not working, your recovering. I will get into this more in the future, but for now check out this book. Its a great guide on how to use virtual assistants to free up your life and how to negotiate with your job, or how to kill your job all together if your work is just too unreasonable.
Be Happy
Its not doing things because you think they willmake you happy, its doing things because they make you happy. Finding love and happiness by doing what make you happy, focusing on the big wins in life, and valuing experiences over possessions is the first step to getting everything that you want.
